Freelance Group Controller (Quartermaster)

For our client, an organization in international logistics, we are seeking an experienced and independent Freelance Group Controller / Quartermaster. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up the group control function and establish a compliance proof and stable financial foundation for the company. You will report to the Group CFO. The assignment has an initial duration of 4 to 6 months, with the possibility of extension until the position is permanently filled. The position can be performed remotely but also on-site (Arnhem). This assignment will begin as soon as possible and will have a full-time position.

As a Freelance Group Controller / Quartermaster, you will play a crucial role in setting up and consolidating financial processes within the organization. Your focus will be on creating a solid financial foundation using Lucanet and Exact Globe. Currently there are five entities globally of which the Dutch and US entities are the main ones. The organization has an ambitious buy and build strategy which will certainly lead to acquisitions in the coming year, acquisitions which will have to be integrated into the organization.

 Responsibilities:

• Setting up and optimizing financial processes using Lucanet and Exact Globe, taking future acquisitions into account;
• Consolidating the financial data of the current five entities;
• Ensuring compliance with Dutch GAAP and US GAAP, identifying and bridging differences between the two standards and cultures;
• Handling transfer pricing and ensuring consistency on an international level;
• Onboarding new acquisitions and integrating financial functions (possible);
• Establishing processes for compliance and risk management;
• Setting up and Performing balance sheet management for investments (depreciation, goodwill, etc.).

• Chartered Accountant (RA/RC);
• Extensive experience within the international logistics sector;
• In-depth knowledge of Dutch GAAP and preferably US GAAP or IFRS, with the ability to bridge the differences;
• Experience in implementing and optimizing financial systems; Lucanet and Exact Globe;
• Understanding of a Buy & Build strategy and its implications for the financial function;
• Excellent communication skills in both English (mandatory) and Dutch (preferred);
